KiVa is a whole school programme and targets the behaviour of bystanders through class lessons. It also has clear and effective strategies for dealing with confirmed cases of bullying. Following strong results from a Finnish research trial, the Finnish Government then funded the roll-out of the programme across Finland, which is now delivered in 90 per cent of Finnish schools where it continues to demonstrate excellent outcomes.

The KiVa Bullying Prevention Seminar took place in January 2016 and featured a panel of teachers and head teachers from across Wales, who shared their experiences and outcomes of the programme. The seminar addressed policy makers, primary school staff and education specialists across Wales. Further training and support for teachers will take place during the summer 2016 for KiVa roll-out at the beginning of the school year in September 2016.

The KiVa Bullying Prevention Seminar was funded by the Bangor University ESRC Impact Acceleration Account (IAA).
