Lead: Dr Katherine Steele, School of Environment, Natural Resources and Geography (SENRGy)

This is a Knowledge Exchange Fellowship with Gramin Vikas Trust, Baripada, Odisha, to reach and inform rice farmers and supply chain managers about the benefits of a new drought-resistant rice breed in draught-prone Eastern India, where irrigation is unavailable.

The project aims to enable more farmers in Eastern India to switch from lower yielding landraces and benefit from higher yields and better quality grain to feed their families or sell.

This project is funded under the RCUK’s Global Challenges Research Fund initiative, a £1.5 billion fund announced by the UK Government to support research and impact that addresses the challenges faced by developing countries.

Partners/Collaborators: Gramin Vikas Trust.
