The Bangor University ESRC Impact Acceleration Account JPG RGB Large

The Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) has awarded Bangor University £975,000 to deliver the prestigious Impact Acceleration Account (IAA) until March 2019. The IAA will support knowledge exchange activities and accelerate the impact of social sciences research from across the University. The Bangor University ESRC IAA aims to build capacity and capability for impact and stimulate collaboration and engagement with external organisations, policy-makers and research users. Bangor University ESRC IAA supported activities include:

  • Fellowships to enable the two-way exchange of knowledge between stakeholders, end users, and/or external partners and the University;
  • Grants to enable Bangor University researchers to explore and strengthen collaborations with the private, public and third sectors, with policy-makers, and with research end users; to support projects that accelerate impact in the social sciences; and for knowledge exchange (KE);
  • Activities: such as seminars, webinars and workshops to showcase research, engage with different stakeholders, and extend impact capabilities.

Current and forthcoming ESRC IAA projects

The Bangor University ESRC Impact Acceleration Account has funded 50 projects to date from a range of disciplines, including: Social Sciences; Psychology; Health Care Sciences; Biological Sciences; Ocean Sciences; Creative Studies and Media; Journalism; English; Bilingualism; Law; and Business.

Global Challenges Research Fund

The ESRC recently awarded Bangor University with a Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) IAA grant for delivering impact in developing countries. We have funded six Bangor University projects with ESRC/IAA GCRF grants to address the challenges faced by the people of: India; the Philippines; Chile; and the East African Community (Republics of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Republic of Burundi and Republic of Rwanda).

Beth yw’r Cyfrif Cyflymu Effaith ESRC?

Mae’r Cyngor Ymchwil Economaidd a Chymdeithasol (ESRC) wedi dyfarnu’r grantiau bloc mawr eu bri, y Cyfrif Cyflymu Effaith i 24 o brifysgolion dethol, yn cynnwys Prifysgol Bangor, er mwyn cyflymu’r cyfleoedd i ddarparu effaith economaidd a chymdeithasol.

Drwy’r grant bloc IAA, mae’r ESRC yn ceisio galluogi Prifysgol Bangor i ddarparu cyllid ar gyfer gweithgareddau cyfnewid gwybodaeth (CG) mewn ffyrdd sy’n gweddu orau i’n strategaethau sefydliadol a’n cyfleoedd ar gyfer darparu effaith.  (Mae’r cyllid hwn yn ategu llwybrau cyllid eraill, er enghraifft Llwybrau at Effaith, a fydd yn parhau i fod y prif ddull y mae’r ESRC yn disgwyl fydd yn ariannu’r cyfleoedd ar gyfer Cyfnewid Gwybodaeth a’r effaith o ymchwil).

Cynlluniwyd Cyfrif Cyflymu Effaith ESRC Prifysgol Bangor i gefnogi effaith economaidd a chymdeithasol yn y meysydd canlynol:

  • Adeiladu perthnasau a rhwydweithiau gyda darpar ddefnyddwyr ymchwil, er mwyn hwyluso proses o gynhyrchu gwybodaeth ar y cyd a sicrhau’r effaith fwyaf bosibl.
  • Symud a secondio pobl rhwng Sefydliadau Ymchwil a rhanddeiliaid ddefnyddwyr.
  • Cynorthwyo’r ymchwilwyr i ddatblygu rhwydweithiau gyda darpar ddefnyddwyr cynnyrch eu gwaith ymchwil, a gweithio ymhellach i sefydlu ‘prawf cysyniad’ ar gyfer eu datblygiadau arloesol.
  • Ysgogi newid diwylliant ym Mhrifysgol Bangor, i hybu proses o gyfnewid gwybodaeth a gwella setiau sgiliau a galluoedd cysylltiedig.
  • Gwella ymgysylltiad gyda’r sector cyhoeddus, cymdeithas sifil, diwydiant (yn cynnwys busnesau bach a chanolig, busnesau lleol ac Innovate UK) a’r cyhoedd.
